What should I send with a referral?
A copy of your patient's medical insurance or Medicare card, their most recent sleep study if they've had one, and a signed prescription for an oral appliance when you're referring for oral appliance therapy.
Does my patient need a sleep study before you see them?
No. If your patient hasn't been diagnosed yet, we arrange a home sleep test and a telemedicine visit with a sleep physician, then coordinate treatment from there.
Is oral appliance therapy covered by insurance?
Oral appliance therapy for sleep apnea is a medical service, so it runs through your patient's medical insurance, including Medicare, not their dental plan. We verify benefits before treatment begins and walk your patient through what to expect.
