Sleep studies & diagnosis in Glen Allen, VA

Not sure what's wrong with your sleep? It starts with a simple at-home test that tells us exactly what's happening while you sleep.

Getting answers about your sleep starts with a home sleep test. You wear a small device in your own bed for a night, a sleep physician reads the results, and Dr. Ashlee Goodman-Tabari walks you through what they mean and what comes next, here in Glen Allen.

The cost of a sleep study depends on your medical insurance benefits and the testing you need. Your first visit includes a questionnaire, a digital scan, an airway image and an exam, followed by a home sleep test read by a sleep physician. If you're treated with an oral appliance, a follow-up test adds to your care. Home sleep testing runs through your medical insurance, and we verify your benefits ahead of time. We'll give you an exact quote before you test. Call (804) 767-2507 to book.

Find out what's really going on while you sleep

The first step is always a sleep study, and ours happens in your own bed with a small wearable device. A sleep physician reads your results, and we sit down with you to explain whether snoring, sleep apnea, or another airway issue is behind how you feel, and what to do about it.

How it works

How sleep testing works in Glen Allen

Most people who call us have been tired for a long time, and many have been told they snore or stop breathing at night. Getting answers is simpler than you might expect, and it all happens without a night in a sleep lab.

It starts with a conversation

Before your first visit, we send a short sleep questionnaire so we understand what you are dealing with. In the office, we take a digital scan of your mouth and a 3D image of your airway, and Dr. Goodman-Tabari does a head and neck exam. She reviews everything with you on screen, so you can see what she is seeing.

One night in your own bed

Your sleep study happens at home. You wear a small device about the size of a watch, with a soft clip for your finger and a small sensor on your chest. Your phone walks you through setup, then you go to sleep the way you normally would. There are no wires to manage and nothing to bring back to the office.

A sleep physician reads your results

Your results come back to us the next day and are read by a sleep physician, who makes the diagnosis. We then sit down with you to explain what the results mean in plain language, and whether snoring, sleep apnea or another airway problem is behind how you feel.

Testing again once you are treated

Testing is not only for a first diagnosis. If you are treated with a custom oral appliance, we test again at home to confirm your breathing and oxygen have improved, and we adjust your device based on real results rather than guesswork.

Insurance and your other doctors

Home sleep testing is a medical service, so it runs through your medical insurance rather than dental. We verify your benefits ahead of time and explain any out-of-pocket cost before you test. We also keep your primary care doctor and any specialists in the loop, so you are never left carrying information between offices.
